Nothing much to do during lunch break. So while PangeranCinta's 100mm macro lens is still with me, I decided to roam the office compounds for some crawlies. Again nothing much except some ants and little moths.

Getting macro shots of insects is not easy. Big apertures shallows the depth of field and it's hard to get the ever busy ant colony in focus, unless of course the ant is willing to pose for you. Using smallest apertures deepens the DOF but slows down the shutter speed. Regardless a tripod or an extremely steady hands, in macro, moving objects does not work with slow shutter speed. Bottomline, macro is a sweaty task which require the 2Ps; passion and patience, big time! But the outcome, it's all worth it.
Went to Tasek Lama recreational park recently. Not much creepy crawlies sighted except the usual red ants, dragonflys and spiders. Out of 100+ images taken, I only managed to get a few usable images... yes, VERY few, only 1 ant posed for me! Here are 3 images, did a little bit of cropping here and there for 'dramatic purposes'.

The virus was started by Air'macro'biscuit, it's contagious and there's no escape. Yes, the macro mania is back, and I tell you, Airbiscuit takes excellent macro shots. I was about to stack my 75-300mm on my dusty Kenko extension tubes when my friend PangeranCinta offered to lend me his 100mm f/2.8 Macro in exchange for me lending him my 50mm f/1.8 for his portrait assignment. Right on time! Without further due, while Airbiscuit and Montelo was shooting green lizards at Tasek Lama, I embarked on an indoor macro mission.
Just trying out the 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, I wonder what's the outcome if this is used with the extension tubes! More to come

The Business School today held a charity bazaar for the Yayasan SHHB Foundation at Yayasan building in town. It was full of fun, cheers, laughters and red colour. For me it's an opportunity to practice street photography and photojournalism. |

For the guys and girls in red, I sell the rest of the photos in CDROM format. Email me for further info.
